Just before Christnas I warped up my inkle loom following a tablet weaving diagram for a row of Christmas Trees - not really expecting to get it right... but I did!
I can't find the link at the moment but I'll add it to this page when I can.
My first experiment was a success! I had asked the advice of experienced weavers, whether practising using acrylic yarn would cause me more trouble than was worth it... opinions were divided but a couple of people said they'd used it when learning and found it useful for practising technique etc. So, having a good supply of DK (8 ply) acrylic yarn from various crochet projects, I decided to give it a go (see last post) It worked! I ended up with a 1.5m band It was really good having at least 3 colours on each of the pattern cards as it helped me see how the 4 threads on each card moved dependent on the direction you turned the cards. For my own benefit I'm noting here what issues I came across, and if I managed to sort them out!... After weaving approx 1m of band I realised the border threads had become ridiculously tight (and looked pretty thin). I tried to undo the knots and untwist the threads - but it was too fiddly even though I'd done easy release knots. Instead,...
Again a long time since I've had anything to put on here, but I've been playing with air dry clay... but it's so expensive in the UK so I've had a go at making my own... and had a little bit of fun :-) Shop bought clay - this started as an owl but I changed my mind as I went along and made an cat LOL! Then I made a couple of batches of cold porcelain (I won't tell about the previous attempt at a no cook recipe!) and the first batch was way too sticky but the second was a little better... I had a go at making a little owl on a branch, but without colouring the porcelain as I wasn't expecting much... ...but I really like it so wish it was coloured now! Lately I tried colouring the porcelain before I had a go at modelling, and for some reason I ended up with a clown - but he is kind of cute :-) Let me know what you think ;-) xXx
As the title suggests I thought I would start selling the friendship wraps (bracelets) now whilst the removable wraps are being tested out for me... These are about 12 inches long - 1inch loop, 6 inch wrap, and 5 inches of tails to allow for different wrist sizes... They can be a flat wrap (like the bottom two) or spiral knot (like the middle - pink yellow and blue one) or a mixture (like the 2nd one down). I have a few colours available, but if you really want something you can't see let me know and I might be able to rustle up something different :-) Red Mid pink Dusky pink Electric blue Orange Yellow Mid blue Purple Green Obviously different screens will change the exact colour slightly, according to my screen these are fairly true to the actual colours Only £4 each - Let me know if you would like to order one - comment here, or send me an e-mail my.twisted.yarns@gmail.com Thanks for looking xXx
