A little break... and a little fun

Image
Well, after the pitiful attendances at 2 christmas events, I took a break and sent out my few orders (thanks friends, for the orders!) Men in our family tend to get smellies as a token gift from the children, but this year I fancied doing something different, and so.... Single hanky shirts Triple hanky shirt & ties lots of presents :-)  So once they are wrapped Christmas is just about done here :-p xXx

Something with a twist...

Image
Well, I have another Christmas fair on Friday, so hopefully this one will be more successful :-) All my display is intact from last time... but I want something "Christmassy" to offer as well, so I thought I'd appeal to the crafty side of kids with Make Your Own (MYO) ornaments.... Set of 5 "MYO"ornaments for kids - £2 These will be available at the Christmas Sale on Friday (The bells are additional - for my display versions only)

It's been a while...

Image
...since my last post, but lots has been going on! I made up quite a bit of "stock" in readiness for the school's Christmas shopping evening. I also bought material to cover the table and made some stands to use as displays. I have to admit I was pretty chuffed with the results... Unfortunately the turn out was VERY poor and I consider myself lucky to have had a couple of orders placed and a bracelet sold on the night... some people had no sales at all :-( But the upside is that my friend Lisa and her Mum have organised a Christmas fair in the village hall opposite the school for next Friday :-) so we'll see if that goes any better LOL!

Find me on Facebook...

Image
As the title says you can now find me on facebook Facebook page This is why I have been missing! People had told me they were having trouble looking at the blog on phones, so it makes sense to add page! I have also had my first order... matching friendship wraps and wrap dangles for two brothers :-) I have also been fiddling around with ideas for some sort of display for the Christmas Shopping evening at the school. I've bought some lovely stretchy black velour material, to cover the table, and also to cover a homemade bracelet stand.  I also need to convert a couple of boxes into display stands for the colour sample wraps and the sample removable wraps... but that's a job for once the children are in bed!

New colours and new wraps :-)

Well, I've been busy again and I've sorted out samples of all of my thread colours - including 9 new shades - to make them easy to choose from.... now have 18 colours (possibly more by special request)! I have also added another item to the list of "products" - wrap dangles... a funky way of naming your property - ideal for school book bags or PE/swimming bags. These will be personalised and at only £2.50 will make a cute little stocking filler too! Now, I just need to work out how to take some decent photos of them.......

Current "stock" / samples

I've had a good sort out tonight...  I've transformed my work space to have a really useful strong bar across the back The friendship wraps - including slighter smaller ones for younger children and standard ones for older children and adults. These will be £4 each Standard friendship wraps £4 Small friendship wraps £4 The removable hair wraps, neatly organised into length order. I'm still debating the price of these... other examples I've seen are generally start at £5 for a 4 inch wrap and then 50p extra per inch of wrap. I am considering a bargain of £4 for a 6 inch wrap and then 50p per inch :-) Removable hair wraps from £4 I'm still working on more samples of the wrap bangles, but they are suitable for younger children as they are fairly small (up to around age 10?), these will also be £4 each Wrap bangles £4 So, now I just need to work on ideas for setting out some sort of display for the Christmas shopping even

Wrap bangles...

Image
Time for the big reveal LOL! Wrap bangles - £4 each The newest item on offer is the wrap bangle. A solid version of the friendship wrap... no strings to tie, easy to slip on and off your wrist! These are suitable for children up to approximately age 10... my son can get them on easily (he's 8) with some room to spare... Again these can be done in any of the colours below (in a previous post) or ask if you'd like specific colours not there, I may be able to oblige :-). These, like the friendship wraps will be £ 4 each xXx

Business cards!

Are on the way LOL! I thought since I have a christmas shopping evening booked that I would get some business cards... chose a nice design 2.99 for 250 (thanks Vistaprint!) + about 3.75 delivery. Then had to go back and check something and managed to add a set of the free cards accidentally - another 250 of different design, and it only added a pound extra delivery, so I thought - why not?! xXx

Another 2...

Image
hair wraps that is! Sophie and Emily I have done in very similar patterns, I was told they have the same length hair, one's favourite colour is yellow, the other is purple. So what do you think??? xXx

Introducing Kitty ;-)

Image
Well, here she is - my new model, Kitty (on semi-permanent loan from Hannah, at her insistence!) And a sneak peak, that will wait until another day....

Ideas, ideas, ideas!

Well, I've had a couple of eureka moments (helped by finding You tube videos to work out how to do them) :-) I want to be able to help at the school / playgroup events try and raise some money for them, but full hair wraps take toooo long (20-30 mins depending on hair length), so I have done my research and I will be offering braids and maybe twists (need more work) instead. I have found a new and willing helper... I'll introduce you later AND I've got another bracelet option... it works in my head, just need to try it out if I can find what I need:-) I'll keep you posted!

£4 friendship wraps

Image
Thought I'd make the price a little more obvious as it seems to be lost within another post! The removable braids seem to be going down well - 3 girls have tried them and like them, and have been proudly showing them off to their friends, who in turn are asking where they got them - YAY! 3 more girls have been given / sent their braids so I'm waiting to see what they think. Hannah has worn her braid for about 10 days - including hair washes and a swimming lesson - it still looks in tip top condition and an added bonus - it is now lovely and flexible (the knotted wrap sections start a little stiff) Well last night I played around with 2 more ways of wrapping for the friendship wraps - 1 may be suitable for the hair wraps as well but I haven't tried it yet... the other I think is less suitable... The top is a herringbone wrap and the bottom is a square knot wrap... both of which are flat sections of wrap rather than the usual round :-) but they add variety so I lik

Friendship wraps available now!

Image
As the title suggests I thought I would start selling the friendship wraps (bracelets) now whilst the removable wraps are being tested out for me... These are about 12 inches long - 1inch loop, 6 inch wrap, and 5 inches of tails to allow for different wrist sizes... They can be a flat wrap (like the bottom two) or spiral knot (like the middle - pink yellow and blue one) or a mixture (like the 2nd one down). I have a few colours available, but if you really want something you can't see let me know and I might be able to rustle up something different :-) Red Mid pink Dusky pink Electric blue Orange Yellow Mid blue Purple Green  Obviously different screens will change the exact colour slightly, according to my screen these are fairly true to the actual colours Only £4 each - Let me know if you would like to order one - comment here, or send me an e-mail my.twisted.yarns@gmail.com Thanks for looking xXx

Here goes nothing

Just a quick post today! Well, the 3 trial wraps have been made (still waiting for measurements etc for the others) and delivered along with instructions :-) Now to see how they get on...

Let the trials begin ...

Image
Hannah's hair braid went in very easily and she loves it! Seven more girls are going to try them, 3 have been measured and I've made the braids in the colours they asked for  - I'm really pleased with them :-) 12 inch rainbow colours - Lydia H 20 inch blues - Alice This one gave me trouble - but only trying to get a good photo! One with a cream background focused well but colours are rubbish -one with black background, wouldn't focus properly... it's purple and pinks not orange! 26 inch pink and purples - Lydia D And then I had a play with another colour mix - autumn hues :-)

The first real trial

Image
Tonight I took out Hannah's braid - even though it still looks in perfect condition :-) Tomorrow she is going to be the first to properly try a removable braid. She chose her colours... red, white and blue. Unfortunately her hair is sooo long now that I have had to make her a 16 inch braid , even though she wants to have it near her ear rather than at the top of her head. It looks nice, lets see how easily it goes in her hair now.... xXx

Another bracelet or is it a necklace?

Image
I sat down and played this evening and came up with this   Well, I was really pleased with it, especially as I found that a double strand of wrapped bracelet is also the perfect size for a choker style necklace (except I can't stand them around my neck LOL! I hate anything tight on my neck!) xXx

Friendship wraps and more...

Image
I was playing last night and I made a couple of friendship wraps - friendship bracelets done in the style of  a wrap! I really like how they've turned out, but I think I'll make them with double the strands in future as they are a little on the skinny side! I've also made some hairwraps (examples) in different lengths... think I need to work on my photography skills though as I can't get them any clearer than they are:-)  I am now going to be brave and "show" my blog to a few select people to start getting some feedback.... please be gentle with me as I'm a novice ;-p Please feel free to leave comments or suggestions as it'll all help in the long run! Now the tricky part starts... trying to work out how much to charge for things... xXx
